Belarus, Georgia to step up cooperation in taxation, customs affairs

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Georgia plan to step up cooperation in taxation, customs affairs, and a number of other avenues. These matters were discussed among other things during the session of the Belarusian-Georgian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Minsk on 2 February, BelTA has learned.

Participants of the session tried to sketch out concrete avenues for bolstering the bilateral trade turnover, outline possible major contracts and international agreements that may be signed within the next few months.

The sides agreed to prepare for signing a Belarusian-Georgian intergovernmental agreement on avoiding double taxation and preventing tax dodging with regard to taxes on income and capital. During the visit the sides are expected to sign an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation and mutual aid in customs affairs, cooperation in tourism, protection of international property, cooperation in standardization, metrology, and conformance evaluation. Cooperation agreements will be signed by the Belarusian and Georgian education ministries as well as the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry and the Labor, Healthcare, and Social Affairs Ministry of Georgia.
