Belarus, France consider cooperation areas in academic research

MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – The promising areas of cooperation in academic research between Belarus and France were discussed at a meeting between Belarus’ Ambassador to France Pavel Latushko and President of the French Academy of Sciences Sebastien Candel, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in France.

The parties discussed promising areas of bilateral cooperation, including research in structural biology and biochemistry, material science, healthcare based on the application of neutrons, and the study of archeological artifacts.

The parties agreed on mutual contacts at the level of the academies of sciences and scientific institutions.

Pavel Latushko handed over an invitation on behalf of Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov to visit Belarus to discuss the Belarusian-French cooperation in science and coordinate new areas and mechanisms of joint scientific and technical activity.

The French Academy of Sciences is a scientific organization founded in 1666 by Louis XIV. It is one of the earliest academies of sciences. Its members are elected for life. Currently there are 150 full members, 300 corresponding members, and 120 foreign associates.

They are divided into two scientific groups: the Mathematical and Physical sciences, and also the Chemical, Biological, Geological and Medical sciences.
