MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) - Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and Finnish Minister of Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto had a telephone conversation on the initiative of the Finnish side, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The ministers discussed the coronavirus response measures in Belarus and Finland and also the measures to strengthen international cooperation in dealing with the impact of the pandemic with the coordinating role of the World Health Organization,” the ministry said.
At the request of the Finnish side, the Belarusian minister commented on the situation in the run-up to the start of the presidential campaign in Belarus.
The ministers highlighted constructive cooperation in the return of Belarusian and Finnish citizens to their homeland, stressed the importance of maintaining direct air service between the two countries. The diplomats also discussed bilateral ties, cooperation between Belarus and the EU, including within the framework of the Eastern Partnership initiative, the press service informed.
