Belarus, Estonia sign agreement on rules of entry and residence of citizens

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) - Belarus and Estonia signed an agreement on the rules of the entry and residence of citizens on the territory of the two countries. The document was signed by Alexander Mikhnevich, Belarus’ First Deputy Foreign Minister, and Vaino Rejnart, the Undersecretary of the External Economic Policy and Cooperation Development at the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Mikhnevich welcomed the growing Belarusian-Estonian contacts, including business contacts. This, in turn, creates good prospects for increasing the number of business trips, tourism development. “We would like to see more of Estonian friends in our country, "he said.

The current level of trade between Belarus and Estonia, which is about $100 million, does not match the potential of the bilateral relations, Alexander Mikhnevich said.

For his part, Vaino Rejnart noted that the agreement will greatly facilitate contacts between citizens of the two countries. “We are in favor of closer contacts between people, business communities. It is time to resume the relations between Belarus and the EU. Governments can contribute to business development, create new conditions for it,” he noted.

As was reported, on 20 April Minsk played host to the Belarusian-Estonian ministerial consultations on trade and economic issues.
