Belarus, Egypt stand ready to strengthen bilateral relations

MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Egypt reaffirm their commitment to actively develop the bilateral relations, read the letters of greetings from Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries to be celebrated on 1 February 2017.

The letters were exchanged during a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Rachkov and Egyptian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Europe Ihab Nasr, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The letter of greetings from Vladimir Makei reads that the meeting between the heads of state of Belarus and Egypt held in January 2017 clearly demonstrated the countries’ mutual commitment to strengthening the bilateral cooperation. “Over a quarter of a century, we have managed to build a solid foundation for a consistent and active dialogue. I am confident that together we will bolster considerably the ties between Belarus and Egypt and fully tap the significant potential of our mutually beneficial cooperation, especially in trade and economy,” the letter reads.

The letter of greetings from Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry notes that the friendly relations and cooperation between Egypt and Belarus are based on mutual respect and common interests. As a result, the countries maintain a dialogue in many areas, including international and regional matters, and also in different aspects of the bilateral relations. The Egyptian diplomat expressed confidence that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries will continue growing and expanding in the coming years.
