Belarus, Egypt initial cooperation roadmap for 2019-2020

MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Egypt initialed the cooperation roadmap for 2019-2020 at the fifth meeting of the Belarusian-Egyptian joint trading commission, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART).

The meeting took place in Cairo on 28-29 November under the chairmanship of Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Vladimir Koltovich and Minister of Trade and Industry of Egypt Amr Nassar. The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation, including in trade and investment, industry, agriculture, petrochemistry, transport, finance, energy, environmental protection, sports and tourism, and healthcare.

“Following the event, the parties initialed a comprehensive program (roadmap) for the development of cooperation between Belarus and Egypt for 2019-2020. The parties also signed the final protocol of the fifth meeting of the commission, a memorandum of understanding between Amkodor, the National Organization for Military Production, the Egyptian tank factory, and the Egyptian agricultural development company in the organization of assembly production and localization of equipment of Amkodor in Egypt,” the MART said.

Taking part in the meeting on Belarus’ behalf were representatives of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Industry Ministry, the Ministry of Communications, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Belgospishcheprom Concern, Amkodor, Atomtekh, BelAZ, Belkommunmash, MAZ, MTZ, Minsk Motor Plant, Gomselmash, as well as representatives of the Belarusian Embassy in Egypt. Attending the meeting on Egypt’s behalf were a number of enterprises and partner organizations.

The program also included a meeting took place with Egyptian businessmen, a meeting of the bilateral working group on industry and a meeting with the prime minister of Egypt.

The parties consider the event as an important step to prepare for the Egyptian president’s return visit to Belarus in 2019.
