MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) - Belarus and Ecuador signed an intergovernmental agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and property. The signing ceremony was held in the Minsitry of Foreign Affairs in Minsk on 27 January, BelTA has learned.
On behalf of Belarus the document was signed by Taxes and Duties Minister Sergei Nalivaiko, on behalf of Ecuador by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ecuador to Belarus Carlos Larrea Davila.
Ecuador's Ambassador emphasized the exceptional importance of this agreement for further development of the Belarusian-Ecuadorian relations. He said that the document will help attract foreign investment which should include an element of technology transfer.
"This means that our countries are open to foreign investment. Belarus and Ecuador have developed a reliable legal framework about this," Carlos Larrea Davila said.
