Belarus, Djibouti establish diplomatic relations

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – The Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Djibouti established diplomatic relations on 26 August, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

The signing ceremony of a joint communique on the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Djibouti took place in the Embassy of Belarus in Paris. The communique was signed by Ambassador of Belarus Pavel Latushko and Ambassador of Djibouti Rachad Farah.

According to the document, Belarus and Djibouti agree to establish diplomatic relations for the sake of strengthening friendship and developing bilateral political, economic and cultural cooperation based on the principles of the recognition of the equality of the two states, independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference with the domestic affairs of each party.

The Republic of Djibouti has become the 184th country Belarus has diplomatic relations with.

The diplomats of Belarus and Djibouti discussed the issues related to the development of economic cooperation between the two countries and the projects concerning the supplies of Belarusian trucks and tractors on the market of Djibouti and the countries of East Africa.

Mr Farah informed his Belarusian counterpart on Djibouti’s interest in accrediting the Ambassador of Djibouti in the Russian Federation in Belarus on concurrent. The parties also discussed a number of issues regarding the development of bilateral cooperation in the UNESCO.
