Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister takes part in UNSC Open Debate

MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov took part in the ministerial-level open debate of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on the settlement of conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa and countering the terrorist threat in the region on 30 September, spokesperson for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told journalists on 1 October, BelTA has learned.

Valentin Rybakov also attended an informal high-level meeting on strengthening cooperation in the management of migrant and refugee flows within the framework of the new sustainable development agenda. The events were held as part of the 70th regular session of the UN General Assembly.

During the visit to New York, Valentin Rybakov will give reports on Belarus’ approach to the settlement of regional conflicts and the refugee problem. He will also take part in the ministerial meeting on OSCE peacekeeping operations, the high-level meeting of the Group of Friends of the Alliance of Civilizations, the ministerial working lunch of the Central European Initiative, and the UN General Assembly high-level debate on maintenance of international peace and security on 1-3 October.

Valentin Rybakov is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Syria, North Korea, and the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina.
