Belarus’ delegation attends UN Chiefs of Defense Conference
MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ delegation led by Deputy State Secretary of the Security Council Stanislav Zas took part in the first-ever United Nations Chiefs of Defense Conference in the UN headquarters in New York on 27 March to discuss issues related to UN peacekeeping operations, BelTA learnt from the State Secretariat of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus.
The international forum brought together representatives of more than 100 countries that take part in UN peacekeeping operations. Participants of the conference noted that in today’s complex global security landscape peacekeepers are given increasingly challenging mandates in training, equipment, including the use of new sophisticated equipment.
On 28 March Stanislav Zas met with UN Under-Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Herve Ladsous and Military Adviser for Peacekeeping Operations Maqsood Ahmed to discuss the prospects of expanding Belarus’ participation in the UN peacekeeping operations.
