MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – The Zapad 2025 strategic exercise is scheduled for 12-16 September, Valery Revenko, Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department, Aide for International Military Cooperation to the Belarusian Defense Minister, said during the briefing titled “Zapad 2025 joint strategic exercise in the context of the military and political situation”, BelTA reports.

“The Republic of Belarus pursues a peace-loving policy and implements a set of measures aimed at ensuring the state’s military security. One manifestation of this policy is the regional military task force of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, established in 2000. Its key activities include joint exercises conducted biannually by decision of the heads of state. In 2025, such an exercise will be held on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. From 12 to 16 September, the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation will be conducting the Zapad 2025 joint strategic exercise,” said Valery Revenko.

The exercise’s theme is the deployment of the task force to ensure the military security of the Union State. “The overarching goal is to test the capabilities of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation in safeguarding the Union State’s military security and their readiness to repel potential aggression. During the exercise, we plan to practice countering enemy aerial strikes, conducting defensive operations, eliminating enemy penetrations of defensive lines, creating conditions to restore territorial integrity, providing air support, and combating illegal armed groups and enemy sabotage-reconnaissance units. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus will oversee the exercise,” he emphasized.
