MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) – Belarus continues negotiating with Russia’s Gazprom the reduction of gas price in 2020-2021, Belarus’ Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich told the media, BelTA has learned.

“The issue is still on the table, the negotiations continue [on gas price for 2020]. In this situation, the negotiations on the price are underway, and the matter also includes a decision on 2021. The talks will be continued,” Viktor Karankevich said on the sidelines of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

According to him, it is too early to talk about specific figures. This is the matter for negotiations. “We are discussing the price for natural gas so that the price could be competitive, first of all, for our business entities. The negotiations are not over. The talks on 2021 are still open,” Viktor Karankevich added.

When asked about the settlement of disagreements over the gas price given its caloric value, the minister said: “This is a matter of economic entities. It is discussed within the framework of economic entities.”

The price of Russian gas for Belarus in 2020 is $127 per 1,000 cubic meters.
