Belarus, CICA to boost cooperation

MINSK, 28 May (BelTA) - Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov met with Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) at the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting and the Eurasian Economic Forum taking place in Kazakhstan on 28-29 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The parties discussed the current state and prospects of Belarus’ cooperation with the international forum, as well as the role of the conference in ensuring stability in Asia,” the press service said.

Kairat Sarybay briefed Maxim Ryzhenkov on preparations for the 7^th CICA Summit scheduled for October 2026 and on ongoing reforms aimed at transforming the forum into an international organization.

Maxim Ryzhenkov supported these initiatives in furtherance of CICA’s strategic development and proposed more active engagement with observer countries. He expressed readiness for more substantive joint work across five key dimensions of cooperation: economic, environmental, human, military and political, and efforts to counter new challenges and threats.

Kairat Sarybay supported Belarus’ efforts to prepare the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century and reaffirmed readiness to continue facilitating the development of confidence and security-building mechanisms across the Eurasian continent.
