Belarus, China to focus on tourism development in 2018

Belarus, China to focus on tourism development in 2018MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) – Belarus and China will focus their attention on tourism development in 2018, Belarus’ Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Mikhail Portnoi told the media in BelTA’s press center on 25 September.

“If everything goes well, we will declare 2018 the Year of Tourism of Belarus and China on the sidelines of the 16+1 summit in November. It is planned that the corresponding agreement will be signed at the level of the prime ministers,” said Mikhail Portnoi.

The parties are working out a plan of actions. “It will include logistics, catering, accommodation, and an information campaign. We plan to hold a lot of events in 2018. The cooperation will be beneficial for our states. Belarusians enjoy visiting China, while China is attracted by our European state,” the deputy minister noted.

According to Mikhail Portnoi, the first group of tourists from China has come to Belarus on a six-day tour under the program of the Tsentrkurort company and the tourist subdivision of the China International Travel Service. “Fifteen tourists have come to Belarus. A good test tour has been prepared for them. Generally, the Chinese people are interested in the “red” tourism [places related to the communist past]. Today we have a fine weather and the Chinese tourists are visiting the Stalin Line. Then, they will be shown Mir, Nesvizh, the Belovezhskaya Pushcha, the Brest Fortress. I hope they will like it here and the number of tourists from China will increase,” he stressed.
