Belarus, China step up efforts in international security

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) - State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Belarus Xie Xiaoyong in Minsk on 14 February, BelTA as learned.

The parties discussed the topical issues of Belarusian-Chinese cooperation and the promising agenda of cooperation in the field of international security. The parties reaffirmed commitment to strategic partnership, strengthening contacts and developing joint projects in the field of defense and law enforcement.

As Belarus is holding chairmanship in the CSTO in 2023, the interest was expressed in developing relations between the organization and the People's Republic of China.

The Belarusian side outlined a proposal in terms of the initiative to hold an international meeting in Minsk within the framework of building the CSTO-China Strategic Dialogue.
