MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko are expected to sign a friendship and cooperation treaty during the visit of the Chinese leader to Belarus, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told journalists on 8 April, BelTA has learned.
“We are preparing a big set of agreements in different areas,” the minister noted. He added that the aforementioned treaty and the joint declaration that the heads of states will sign after their talks will shape further development of the bilateral cooperation that has already reached the level of comprehensive strategic partnership. The presidents will also sign agreements on cooperation in finance, investments, education, science, technologies, tourism, culture, and other fields.
Vladimir Makei pointed out that the Belarusian side is making every effort to properly organize the upcoming visit of the PRC President to Belarus. “We really want this visit to become a landmark event for the Belarus-China relations,” he noted.
Vladimir Makei also said that that he held a meeting with his Chinese counterpart on 8 April. The sides agreed on a number of issues of the bilateral cooperation and thoroughly discussed further steps to strengthen the Belarus-China cooperation in 2015.
Vladimir Makei pointed out that he believes that the visit of Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi to Belarus attests to the willingness of the two countries to develop the mutually beneficial multi-faceted cooperation.
