MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – Another round of Belarus-China ministerial consultations to discuss bilateral issues and international affairs took place in Minsk on 17 December, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The Belarusian delegation was headed by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lukashevich, while the Chinese delegation was led by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs (at the rank of Vice Minister) Liu Bin. The parties took stock of bilateral cooperation over the past year, discussed economic and investment interaction, assessed progress in implementing instructions and initiatives formulated following highest-level and high-level dialogue, and agreed to maintain active contacts next year.
A wide range of current issues of cooperation on international platforms was also touched upon, particularly within the SCO, BRICS and the UN. The Belarusian side thanked China for supporting the inclusion of the element “Negliubka textile tradition of Vetka District, Gomel Oblast” on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding. Belarus also expressed support for the Global Governance Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.


The parties highlighted the strong momentum in bilateral relations and political dialogue, emphasizing the significant potential for further cooperation.
During the consultations special attention was given to the situation around Taiwan. The Belarusian side reaffirmed its commitment to the One China principle and expressed support for all efforts of the Chinese government to protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
