Belarus, China, Bulgaria announce competition for COVID-19 researchers

MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Bulgarian National Science Fund (BNSF) have announced a trilateral contest of joint research projects focusing on issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB).

The themes of the competition include screening and development of broad spectrum antiviral drugs to treat coronavirus, research and development of a vaccine against coronavirus, etiology and pathogenesis of animal viruses, protective mechanisms of the immune system, as well as new technology for rapid and accurate diagnosis of the coronavirus infection.

Research projects for the competition should be presented by international consortiums consisting of two or three participants hailing from different countries that arrange the competition. A mandatory condition is having a Chinese participant in every consortium acting as a project coordinator.

The terms of the competition are available on the website of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research. Applications can be submitted using an automated information system. The deadline is 17:00 on 15 September. The hard copy of the application can be sent to the foundation by post by 18 September.
