Belarus, China agree on joint projects, new credit lines

MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – Belarus and China have agreed on big joint projects, new credit lines and new mechanisms of interbank cooperation, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko told media after the talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on 10 May, BelTA has learned.

The parties agreed on the construction and infrastructure modernization projects, setting up modern manufacturing facilities in Belarus with the participation of big Chinese companies.

According to the President of Belarus, the two countries have no closed issues, which is proved by bilateral military and technical cooperation, agreements to expand trade and intentions to balance trade, create legal and organizational conditions for tourist, education and cultural exchanges, launch direct flights, develop and expand interregional cooperation between Belarus and China.

“Today we have signed a treaty of friendship that confirms our current high level of all-round strategic partnership and that together with the joint declaration will determine the main future vectors for the development of bilateral relations,” the Belarusian leader said.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, the parties discussed important issues related to bilateral relations in a friendly and constructive atmosphere.

“We agreed to continue our close cooperation in the international arena and support each other in the issues that pertain to the national interests, national security and sovereignty,” the Belarusian head of state said.

The President stressed that thanks to the Chinese President Belarus joined the Silk Road Economic belt initiative and will help fill it with transport, logistics and infrastructure projects. “Xi Jinping’s concept is of global dimension and of economic, information, social and cultural importance. Its implementation will help the countries on the continent to establish closer relations in various areas, which in the end will promote mutual support, social and economic development of the countries of Eurasia and Europe,” the Belarusian leader said. In his words, the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park Great Stone is an example of joint bilateral cooperation in China’s One Belt, One Road strategy in the center of two integrations – the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union.

“The comprehensive strategic partnership will be based on mutual direct investment and joint manufacturing projects, first of all, in the hi-tech and innovation areas that shape the future economy of the two countries,” the President of Belarus stressed.
