MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – The Central Election Committee (CEC) of Belarus is ready to continue its cooperation with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) at the level of experts, CEC Secretary Nikolai Lozovik said at a meeting of the interdepartmental working group of experts on 16 February to review the OSCE ODIHR recommendations to improve the election process in the Republic of Belarus, BelTA informs.
“Mr Link [OSCE ODIHR Director Michael Georg Link - BelTA] suggested the Central Election Commission of Belarus and the OSCE ODIHR should continue cooperation at the level of experts. Meetings can take place either in Warsaw or in Minsk. We accepted the proposal with a provision that the door to Europe will be open to our experts,” said the CEC Secretary.
“Yesterday’s events showed that Mr Link’s proposal can be implemented now. The sanctions against the CEC members and a number of other Belarusian civil servants were lifted,” said Nikolai Lozovik.
