Belarus' CEC group of experts to meet after 4 March

MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – The interdepartmental working group of experts to review the OSCE ODIHR recommendations to improve the election process in the Republic of Belarus will meet again after 4 March, head of the working group and member of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Yelena Dmukhailo said at a meeting of the group on 16 February, BelTA informs.

Yelena Dmukhailo voiced two dates when every participant of the group should form their preliminary and final opinions. “26 February and 4 March. After that we will hold another meeting,” she said.

“The report of the OSCE [the OSCE ODIHR observation mission - BelTA] is big enough. I suggest giving it some time to study, until the end of the next week,” Yelena Dmukhailo said. In her words, members of the group will submit their proposals to the CEC after they get familiar with the report.

As was informed, the group was set up following the decision of the Central Election Commission on 12 February 2016. Apart from Yelena Dmukhailo, the working group comprises head of the constitutional and international law department at the National Legislation and Legal Research Center of Belarus Igor Golubitsky, deputy head of the department for European cooperation, head of the Department for OSCE and the Council of Europe at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrei Yeroshkin, head of the expert and legal department of the Secretariat of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Kapylsky, head of the legal and personnel department at the Information Ministry Viktoria Meleshko, Chairman of the Council of the Republic’s permanent commission on legislation and state construction Lilia Moroz, head of the department on state and international law at the Secretariat of the House of Representatives Galina Orlova, principal counselor at the constitutional law department at the National Legislation and Legal Research Center Alexander Pestunov, House of Representatives MP Dmitry Shevtsov, head of the main department on legislation in state construction at the Justice Ministry Anna Shpak.
