Belarus, Bulgaria to advance cooperation in pharmaceutics, unmanned aircraft

MINSK, 28 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Bulgaria should step up scientific cooperation in the area of pharmaceutics and unmanned aerial vehicles. The relevant statement was made by Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Vladimir Gusakov as he met with President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Julian Revalski on 28 May, the NASB press service told BelTA.

The promising avenues of cooperation also include research in the area of nano and biotechnologies, chemistry, and LED technology. NASB research institutions are interested in long-term, systemic, and mutually beneficial cooperation with scientific institutions of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, stressed Vladimir Gusakov.

In turn, the Bulgarian side is interested in expanding cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. The number includes social studies and archeology, the implementation of joint research projects and the organization of scientific events, scientific personnel training.

On 28 May the president of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences held negotiations with top officials of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. He also went on a tour of the NASB History Museum and the permanently open exhibition, which demonstrates the assimilation of Belarusian R&D products by the production sector. While in Belarus members of the Bulgarian delegation are also expected to visit a number of NASB organizations such as Joint Mechanical Engineering Institute, the applied research center for material sciences, the informatics institute, the math institute, the history institute, and the enterprise Geoinformation Systems.

A delegation of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences led by President Julian Revalski is in Belarus on a visit on 27-30 May. The delegation was invited by the leadership of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. It is the first visit of the head of Bulgaria’s leading research institution to the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The purpose of the visit is to get familiar with the operation of NASB institutions, discuss promising avenues and ways to advance cooperation. A renewed agreement on cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is expected to be signed as a result of the visit.
