Belarus’ Brest, Serbia’s Subotica to intensify twinning relations

MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) - Possible expansion of twinning relations between Belarus’ Brest and Serbia’s Subotica were considered at a meeting between Belarus’ Ambassador to Serbia Valery Brylev and Subotica Mayor Bogdan Laban, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Serbia.

The parties exchanged opinions on a wide range of issues related to bilateral ties. They discussed the development of relations between two twinned cities, prospects for intensifying regional cooperation in economy, agriculture, construction, utilities, joint projects in culture and tourism.

During the trip the diplomat took part in a roundtable session to discuss the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The meeting was attended by Subotica businessmen, including member of the city’s council on tourism, investment and international cooperation Srdan Mijailovic, Belekpol head Aleksandr Nelyubin, representative of the tax department Milenko Milosevic. The Belarusian ambassador spoke about the bilateral relations, social and economic development and foreign political events in Belarus.

The program of the meeting included a presentation of Belarus’ economic and investment capacities and an exchange of opinions on promising areas of trade and economic cooperation. The parties considered issues of further development of bilateral contacts at the level of regional administrations and business circles. They also discussed prospects for developing cooperation in culture, sport and tourism and touched upon the 2nd European Games

An agreement was reached that representatives of Subotica business circles would visit the Belarusian embassy.

The ambassador also saw the city’s cultural and tourism facilities.
