Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina interested in easing visa requirements

MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) - Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina are interested in relaxing visa rules for citizens. The matter was discussed in a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Hungary and concurrently to Bosnia and Herzegovina Alexander Khainovsky and Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Ivanic, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Hungary.

An agreement was reached to intensify work on the conclusion of agreements on the avoidance of double taxation and on visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic and official passports. "The parties noted the interest in relaxing visa rules for other categories of citizens of the two countries," the Embassy said.

Alexander Khainovsky and Mladen Ivanic discussed the ways of strengthening the bilateral relations. The parties agreed that the most effective measure to intensify trade and economic and investment cooperation would be to create a bilateral intergovernmental commission which would coordinate the work on these issues. The near-term priorities include the expanding of trade and economic cooperation, the development of political dialogue and cooperation in international organizations, promoting humanitarian contacts, tourist exchanges, and the development of the legal framework.

In discussing the situation in the region, Mladen Ivanic welcomed the diplomatic efforts of Belarus to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
