BREST, 29 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian party Belaya Rus signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation with the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) in Brest on 29 May, BelTA has learned.
The document was signed by Olga Chemodanova, Chair of the Belarusian party Belaya Rus, and Bounleua Phandanouvong, Head of the LPRP Central Committee's Commission for External Relations.
The parties aim to develop mutually beneficial inter-party cooperation to strengthen friendly ties between the peoples of the two countries. The agreement will promote dialogue and mutual understanding between state bodies and public institutions of Belarus and Laos. The parties expressed interest in expanding Belarus-Laos cooperation, deepening trade and economic ties and investment interaction, developing intercultural dialogue, and enhancing partnership between public organizations.
“Signing this memorandum will play an important role and will serve as a regulatory basis for developing relations between our two countries. We believe that cooperation between our parties will make a significant contribution to strengthening ties between Belarus and Laos. Our countries share a long-standing friendship,” Bounleua Phandanouvong said.
This is his third visit to Belarus. He has visited Minsk twice, and this time he came to Brest. “Good infrastructure, a clean city. When I first arrived, I thought it was young. Later I learned that Brest has a long history and is a heroic city. We were given a tour of the Brest Fortress. It made a strong impression on me. The guide explained everything very well; it was very interesting to hear the history. The people of Brest are very hospitable and generous. I will definitely find time to visit this city again,” the Lao representative shared.
On 28-29 May, Brest is hosting the 2nd international inter-party conference “State Sovereignty and Principles of International Relations in the Conditions of Multipolarity and Diversity in the 21st Century”.
