Belarus, Bangladesh to intensify intergovernmental cooperation

 MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Bangladesh intend to reinvigorate the mechanisms of intergovernmental cooperation. This agreement was reached at a meeting between Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov and Adviser for Foreign Affairs of the Interim Government of Bangladesh Touhid Hossain on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Uganda, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During talks, the diplomats laid out plans to intensify intergovernmental cooperation and deepen the political dialogue. Maksim Ryzhenkov emphasized that Belarus views Bangladesh as a reliable, strategic partner in the region and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthen trade and economic ties by diversifying trade to mutual advantage.

“In this context, the parties agreed to promptly convene an intergovernmental trade and economic commission at the deputy minister level and to organize mutual business visits and economic events. The talks also recognized the significant potential for launching joint projects in the industrial, agricultural, and pharmaceutical sectors,” the press service the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The ministers further emphasized the importance of continuing regular political consultations. They highlighted their constructive collaboration within international organizations, reaffirming their readiness to support each other’s initiatives and to coordinate their positions on pressing global issues in the interests of the developing world.
