MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Azerbaijan will support each other on all matters on the agenda of the 26^th summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Boleslav Pirshtuk and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belarus Latif Gandilov, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian parliament.

Boleslav Pirshtuk said he was satisfied with the results of the meeting with the Azerbaijani ambassador and hailed the contribution of the Azerbaijani embassy to the development of Belarus-Azerbaijan relations. He also expressed confidence that these relations will be taken to a new level.

The parties discussed matters of Belarus-Azerbaijan interaction in international organizations. They have outlined the avenues of teamwork at the 26^th annual session of the OSCE PA due in Minsk from 5 to 9 July. Boleslav Pirshtuk and Latif Gandilov agreed that the two countries will support each other on all matters to be discussed during the session.

The summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will focus on the ways of strengthening mutual trust and cooperation for peace and prosperity in the region. It is expected that Minsk will host approximately 700 participants. The session is set to be eventful. It will include meetings of the OSCE PA Standing Committee and the three General Committees of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly: on Political Affairs and Security; on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment; on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions. Among the key topics to be discussed in Minsk are terrorism, cybersecurity, protracted conflicts, climate change, migration and strengthening of the OSCE mechanisms to ensure respect for human rights.

Belarus will submit for consideration a resolution on working out timely and effective legislative, regulatory, and administrative measures to tackle the emergence of new psychoactive substances.
