Belarus, Austria discuss cooperation in UN

MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Austrian ministerial consultations on cooperation in the United Nations took place in Vienna on 5 December, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Belarus in Austria.

The event was held at the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria. The Belarusian delegation was led by head of the main department for multilateral diplomacy of the Foreign Ministry Yuri Ambrazevich. The Austrian delegation was headed by chief of the department of international organizations at the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs Ambassador Michael Rendi.

The parties presented their national priorities in the United Nations, their approaches to the role and place of the organization in the present-day world, enhancement of efficiency of the UN General Assembly, reforming of the United Nations Security Force, and the bilateral support at the lections to the UN institutions. The heads of the delegations also exchanged opinions on the issues of current importance.

The Austrian side received the official joint invitations from the Foreign Ministry of Belarus and the UNDP Representative Office in Minsk to take part in an international conference “Strengthening technical cooperation between Belarus and the UN: Results, New Prospects and Opportunities” which is due to take place in the Belarusian capital on 29 January 2015.
