MINSK, 13 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian delegation is taking part in the final meeting of the heads of the bodies of international military cooperation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry.

The meeting is underway in Sanya, China on 14-17 January. The meeting is attended by head of the department for international military cooperation at the Defense Ministry, Defense Minister’s Aide in International Military Cooperation Major-General Oleg Voinov.

The agenda of the meeting includes the analysis of the international military cooperation plan of the SCO member states for 2017 and the planning of events for 2018. The Belarusian side will also hold bilateral meetings with representatives of the bodies of international military cooperation of the states which are members, observers and partners to the SCO.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was set up in 2001. Among the member states of the organization are India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Belarus is an observer in the organization.
