Belarus attending INTERPOL General Assembly in Beijing

Belarus attending INTERPOL General Assembly in BeijingMINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – A delegation of the Interior Ministry of Belarus is taking part in the 86th General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) in Beijing, China on 26-30 September, BelTA learned from the Interior Ministry of Belarus.

The forum has gathered more than 100 representatives of the law-enforcement bodies of the INTERPOL member states. The agenda includes the discussion of the most important issues related to the activity of the organization, international cooperation. The focus is on combating cybercrimes, terrorism and extremism, measures to ensure security at the regional and global levels. It is expected that the delegates will consider the criteria and order for new countries to join INTERPOL, approve the agreements on cooperation and the exchange of information with the interested organizations.

The Belarusian delegation is led Interior Minister Igor Shunevich. The Belarusian delegation is set to meet with representatives of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

INTERPOL unites police bodies of 190 states. Belarus joined the organization on 4 October 1993.
