MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the People’s Republic of China Yuri Senko presented his credentials to President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping on 14 April, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Beijing.

The event was held at the Great Hall of the People and was attended by 30 heads of diplomatic missions. In his speech Xi Jinping asked to convey his best wishes to the leaders of the states and international organizations which representatives were present at the ceremony.

The Chinese leader noted that in 2020 Chinese people, together with the whole world, confronted a new type of the coronavirus pandemic and opened a new chapter of international friendship and cooperation.

He also recalled that 2021 marks the centennial of the Chinese Communist Party, the first year of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and a new stage in building a modern socialist country. China is determined to implement a new development concept that should benefit people of all countries.

This year also marks the 50th anniversary of China’s membership in the United Nations and the 20th anniversary of the country’s membership in the World Trade Organization. China is ready to continue taking part in the UN activities together with other states, as the UN is a pillar of the world order. China remains committed to promoting multilateral trade,  creating a global governance system and establishing a community of common destiny for mankind.

The president of the People’s Republic of China noted that Beijing will host the Winter Olympic Games in 2022 and expressed confidence that the concerted efforts and involvement of all parties will help overcome the aftermath of the pandemic and pave the way for safe Olympic Games.

According to Xi Jinping, Chinese people have always valued friendship and peacefulness and are ready to strengthen mutual trust and expand win-win cooperation with all nations of the world and to jointly implement the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Chinese leader expressed hope that the newly appointed diplomatic representatives will make a positive contribution to promoting cooperation between their countries and China, as well as cooperation between the UN and the PRC.
