Belarus’ Ambassador attends Living Memories Tour event in Tajikistan

MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Tajikistan Olga Gavruk took part in the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly’s Living Memories Tour dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Dushanbe, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

The diplomat also took part in a ceremony to lay flowers at the Eternal Flame Memorial in Victory Park. "During the meeting with veterans and members of the IPA CIS the Belarusian Ambassador spoke about the fight of Belarusian people against the German invaders, and also about the Tajik people who took part in the liberation of Belarus," the Minsitry of Foreign Affairs informed. Olga Gavruk also attended the international conference "Tajikistan in the common struggle for the victory over fascism."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the conference was co-organized by the Development Foundation of the Eurasian Research Institute and the National Charity Foundation of Tajikistan. The conference was attended by war veterans, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Tajikistan, historians and experts, students and activists of youth organizations, cultural figures and journalists. The event was part of the preparations for the international forum “Great Victory Achieved Through Unity". These forums have been held since 2010 and are dedicated to the most important milestones in the history of the Great Patriotic War.
