MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) - Belarus intends to expand its trade and economic relations with the United Arab Emirates, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said as he met with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi on 6 June, BelTA has learned.
“The UAE has been our friends for many years. Of course, we are watching the situation in the Middle East with concern and would like to see this conflict end as soon as possible so that life can return to normal,” said Aleksandr Turchin.
He noted that a number of landmark projects have been implemented in Minsk with the help of investors from the UAE. “There are several proposals on the table. I am confident that we have a broad field for further joint action. Especially since you are not a first-time visitor to our country, and during your previous visit, a number of important documents were signed that will give an even stronger boost to our trade and economic ties. I am confident that with your help, we will move toward the practical implementation of our initiatives in various sectors. I would be very pleased to discuss these matters today,” the prime minister said.
The UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade noted that he had already spent two busy days in Belarus. “I will be happy to share my impressions with you today. Bilateral agreements have been signed, and we are doing everything possible to bring them into force as quickly as possible. The documents will be ratified within two to three weeks. And we hope they will become operational in the shortest possible time,” he emphasized.
Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi commented on the outcome of the meeting as he talked to the media. “It was an excellent meeting; we had a great dialogue with the prime minister. Representatives of our business communities also interacted very well with the Belarusian side. We discussed the bilateral agreements signed last year, their ratification, implementation, and our expectations. We hope these agreements will fully enter into force by the end of this year. We also discussed various investments, such as the Northern Waterfront project, investments in telecommunications, food security, trade, data centers, industry, poultry production, and other projects that will benefit both countries. We are confident that this dialogue will yield positive results and lead to progress across all areas,” he said.
