DUSHANBE, 12 October (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Rumas met with Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on 12 October to discuss the fulfillment of cooperation agreements between Belarus and Afghanistan, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus knows and highly appreciates your constructive approach to promoting cooperation between Belarus and Afghanistan, as well as your personal contribution to the implementation of our joint projects. Your visit to Belarus in August last year became an important milestone for the bilateral relations and I am glad to have an opportunity today to review the implementation of our agreements,” Sergei Rumas noted.

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah emphasized that Afghanistan traditionally has good relations with Belarus. “We cherish very good memories of Belarus,” he added.

In January-July 2018, Belarus-Afghanistan trade amounted to $21.7 million. In 2017 it stood at $29.6 million. In January-July Belarus’ export rose by 48.2% to $21.5 million. Belarus’ major exports to Afghanistan are petroleum products, tractors and truck tractors, parts and accessories to cars and tractors.
