Bangladesh shows interest in Belarusian infrastructure development skills, technology

 MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – The possibility of attracting Belarusian specialists and technology for the development of infrastructure in Bangladesh was discussed at the first meeting of the Belarus-Bangladesh joint commission, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting was held at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the chairmanship of Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas and Bangladesh’s Minister of Commerce Tipu Munshi.

The parties talked over mutual trade and ways to increase it. They also praised the complementarity of the economies of Belarus and Bangladesh which creates great opportunities to build on mutual supplies of industrial goods and agricultural products, including food. 

“The bilateral commission outlined the most promising joint projects in mechanical engineering and discussed the possibilities of attracting Belarusian specialists and technology to develop infrastructure in Bangladesh. Belarusian representatives confirmed their readiness for a considerable increase in supplies of road-construction, farming and freight machinery to Bangladesh including after-sales maintenance,” the ministry said.

According to the ministry, Bangladeshi partners showed interest in adopting Belarusian technology and training specialists in agricultural mechanization, including potato growing and processing of agrarian products, medical education and research, nuclear security and high-tech manufacturing.

The Bangladeshi delegation also met with Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich to discuss bilateral partnership, including a new contract on the delivery of $100 million worth of equipment to Bangladesh.
