Azerbaijan thanked for support of Belarus in inter-parliamentary organizations

MINSK, 29 July (BelTA) - Belarus is grateful to Azerbaijan for support in inter-parliamentary organizations, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Belarus Latif Gandilov on 29 July, BelTA has learned.

“I am very glad to meet with you today. Of course, it is a very pleasant meeting. However, at the same time, it is sad because these five years have gone very quickly. During this time you have done a lot to develop cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus, and most importantly, to strengthen friendship between our peoples. It is important that, despite the pandemic, our contacts - political, trade and economic ones – have never stopped,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.

In his words, much has been done to develop inter-parliamentary relations. “We enjoy very constructive relations in international organizations, not only in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly but also in the PACE, where you are directly involved. We are grateful to Azerbaijani MPs for such a constructive position, for the voice that you always express against those biased resolutions they are trying to adopt and, unfortunately, adopt against the Republic of Belarus. It is important for us to continue such work in international organizations: both in the OSCE and the PACE,” the speaker said.

Vladimir Andreichenko stressed that there are prospects for the development of trade and economic relations. “There is still a wide field of activity for food supplies and development of cooperation in machinery assembly. You have been very active in all significant events that have been held in Belarus. It is very important that you pay a lot of attention to interpersonal relations. A lot has been done, and, of course, we hope that your successor will continue this work,” he said.

“We are close, friendly nations, but most importantly, we are strategic partners. It was a pleasant mission for me in Belarus. Azerbaijan has supported Belarus in all arenas and will continue to do so in the future. We have always been and will be by your side. This support will continue everywhere. We consider it wrong to interfere in the internal affairs of states, and therefore our fraternal support will always be there for you,” Latif Gandilov added.
