Ambassadors review status of Belarus- Zimbabwe highest-level arrangements

MOSCOW, 21 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi has met with Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Russia Ambrose Mutinhiri in Moscow, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

“The parties reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the arrangements reached by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa during the state visit of the Belarusian head of state to Zimbabwe on 30 January – 1 February 2023. They thrashed out plans to expand political dialogue and implement an extensive economic agenda,” the press service emphasized.

According to Dmitry Krutoi, Belarus is interested in maintaining vibrant trade. Belarus is ready to participate in the next stage of Zimbabwe’s agricultural mechanization program through the supply of various types of agricultural equipment, upgrade of facilities and construction of grain storages. Belarus’ new exports to this country include fire trucks and mining equipment, food, medicines, fabrics and chemical fertilizers.

Belarus’ ambassador welcomed active business contacts between the two countries, including within the framework of the recent Belarus-Zimbabwe business forum in Harare.

“Ambrose Mutinhiri spoke highly of the level of bilateral relations. He emphasized the significant potential for joint work in all areas of cooperation, including trade, legal framework and others. He pointed to the constructive interaction of our countries on international platforms and expressed confidence that this will remain in place in the future,” the diplomatic mission said.

The parties agreed that ministerial visits could be highly instrumental for promoting Belarus-Zimbabwe dialogue. Such visits are scheduled for this year along with the meeting of the joint commission on cooperation.

“Dmitry Krutoi and Ambrose Mutinhiri noted that Belarus and Zimbabwe share approaches to the formation of a fair world order based on multi-polarity and respect for the UN Charter. They spoke in favor of stronger cooperation in the face of growing threats to the sovereignty and independence of states from the collective West, including illegal unilateral sanctions,” the press service emphasized.

“Dmitry Krutoi invited Ambrose Mutinhiri to visit Belarus to study export opportunities of our country. He suggested collocating the visit with major exhibitions and fairs,” the Belarusian embassy added.
