Ambassadors of Belarus, China to Russia discuss cooperation in international organizations

MOSCOW, 12 May (BelTA) – On 11 May Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoi met with Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Russian Federation Zhang Hanhui in Moscow to exchange views on the bilateral agenda and cooperation in international organizations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

The parties highly appreciated the current level of Belarusian-Chinese political dialogue and cooperation in all areas, the impetus to which was given during the state visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to China this year at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The ambassadors stressed that the joint statement of the heads of state adopted during the visit on the further development of all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries is of historical importance and expands the horizons of interaction, despite the difficult geopolitical realities and external challenges.

"Dmitry Krutoi and Zhang Hanhui welcomed a record high trade in 2022 and the steps to increase it further. To do this, the countries have significant potential in the industrial, scientific, technological, information, humanitarian and other fields," the press service said.

The parties paid special attention to promising Belarusian-Chinese projects. To date, about 25 investment projects in industry and energy are in progress in Belarus. "The Belarusian Ambassador singled out the largest and most significant of them: the Belarus-China Industrial Park Great Stone. It has 107 resident companies operating in various industries, including high-tech engineering, ICT, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medicine, e-commerce. One of the most popular areas of bilateral cooperation is the development of traditional Chinese medicine in Belarus. Work is currently underway in Great Stone to set up a regional center for the promotion of to promote traditional and innovative Chinese medicine," the diplomatic mission said.

"Zhang Hanhui confirmed China’s interest in supplies of potash fertilizers, dairy and meat products from Belarus, in expanding cooperation in the educational and military sectors, and advancing regional ties," the press service said.

"As part of the discussion of the multilateral agenda, the parties reaffirmed the two countries’ commitment to non-interference in the internal affairs of other states, approaches to protecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, and resolving conflicts through negotiations. Dmitry Krutoi and Zhang Hanhui reaffirmed the mutual support of Belarus and China in international organizations and their focus on continuing joint work to build a fair multipolar world order based on the international law and the central coordinating role of the UN," the press service concluded.
