MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – China will maintain momentum in developing comprehensive cooperation with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Zhang Wenchuan told the media following the inauguration of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 25 March, BelTA learned.
"The Belarusian-Chinese relations are built on a solid political foundation. In 2022, the leaders of our two countries jointly announced that the Belarusian-Chinese relations reached a new historical level: an all-weather and all-round strategic partnership. This reflects the nature of cooperation between China and Belarus and is an embodiment of the friendship between our two nations," the ambassador stated.
"Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko maintain close ties, a high degree of mutual trust and deep friendship. Xi Jinping has emphasized that China always views the Belarusian-Chinese relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. Aleksandr Lukashenko has repeatedly stressed that if China is strong, Belarus is strong too," Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan said.
"China firmly supports Belarus' choice of development path based on its national realities and opposes any interference by external forces in Belarusian internal affairs. For a long time, Belarus has adhered to the One China principle and strongly supports China in protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity," the ambassador emphasized.
