MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) - Belarus is taking comprehensive measures to enhance cooperation with Brazil, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Brazil with concurrent accreditation to Paraguay and Uruguay Andrei Andreyev told the media on the sidelines of the annual seminar for heads of Belarus' diplomatic missions and consular offices in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
According to Andrei Andreyev, the seminar is an opportunity to synchronize efforts, review progress in trade-economic objectives, and set new priorities. “Following the seminar, we plan targeted work on specific projects and areas that will be thoroughly discussed during meetings with ministry leadership, industrial concerns, and individual enterprises. This format is essential for tactical and strategic adjustments in our diplomatic missions' work, particularly regarding trade and economic components,” he stressed.
The diplomat noted that the embassy's task is to expand cooperation across sectors based on achieved results. Over the past six months, four Belarusian delegations visited Brazil. “These visits yielded agreements on enhanced parliamentary cooperation through both chambers. A number of political-level meetings were held. An agreement was signed between Belarus’ BRSM Youth Union and Brazil's Youth Union. All agreements fundamentally incorporate trade and economic elements,” he added.
A Brazilian delegation is expected to visit Minsk soon, he said. “We are preparing a September visit by Brasilia's leadership, including business representatives, for substantive trade and economic discussions and a sister-city agreement signing,” the ambassador said.
Highlighting Brazil's 2025 BRICS presidency, Andrei Andreyev noted Belarus' participation in BRICS events: “Our multilateral cooperation approaches largely align with Global South nations. Belarus and Brazil share perspectives on global peacekeeping, sustainable development, and socio-economic growth."
All bilateral projects ultimately aim to boost both nations' social and economic development, the ambassador stressed. “Brazil is a world leader, with tremendous economic potential. Our task is to establish sustainable, complementary cooperation across multiple sectors,” he concluded.
