MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) - Belarus and Vietnam actively developing roadmap for strategic partnership, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Belarus Nguyen Van Trung told the media before a meeting with Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Sergei Rachkov, BelTA has learned.

“In May of last year, our leaders Aleksandr Lukashenko of Belarus and To Lam of Vietnam decided to elevate our interstate relations to the level of a strategic partnership. Right now, our countries are actively working on a roadmap to roll out this strategic partnership,” Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung said.

Speaking about the priority areas of bilateral cooperation, the ambassador noted that given the current global situation and the specific characteristics of both countries, the leaders of the friendly, brotherly states are focusing on areas such as the economy, science and technology, and people's diplomacy.

Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung emphasized the importance of parliamentary efforts aimed at achieving the goals set at the highest level. Parliaments, he noted, also play an important role in monitoring the implementation of these objectives.

The ambassador added that the relations between the parliaments are developing thanks to the leadership of both legislative bodies and the work of the friendship groups.
