Ambassador: Belarus, Cuba respect and love each other

Ambassador: Belarus, Cuba respect and love each other

MINSK, 7 July (BelTA) – Belarus and Cuba are linked by many years of friendship; the two countries respect and love each other, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Santiago Perez Benitez told journalists, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus and Cuba are united by long-standing friendship between our peoples. We respect and love each other. We have many years of contacts. We have very good economic and political relations,” Santiago Perez Benitez said.

The ambassador recalled that Cuba has been living under tough U.S. sanctions for more than 60 years. “We are determined to keep resisting these sanctions. We are confident that Belarus will survive them. Belarus’ achievements in agriculture, manufacturing, social security should be taken into account by the world community,” he said.

The ambassador arrived in Belarus in May. “I feel very comfortable in Belarus. Everyone here hears me. Everyone loves Cuba. Belarusians have a very friendly attitude towards Cubans, and Cubans also treat Belarusians as friends,” Santiago Perez Benitez added.

The House of Representatives is hosting a meeting between the working group on cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of Cuba at Belarus’ National Assembly and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Santiago Perez Benitez. The meeting participants are set to adopt an address in support of the Cuban people and government, to condemn another attempt by the United States to destabilize the Island of Freedom and also discuss a broad range of issues of cooperation in politics and economy.
