MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) - Cooperation between Belarus and China in science and technology is steadily strengthening, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Belarus Xie Xiaoyong said at the opening of the 9th Belarus-China Youth Innovation Forum “New Horizons 2022”, BelTA has learned.

This year Belarus and China have marked the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations. “Over the past 30 years the interaction between the two countries has become closer. Business cooperation brings fruitful results. Interregional cooperation has become a new growth point. The friendship between the two peoples has become even stronger. In September 2022, our heads of state met in Samarkand and decided to raise the relations between the two countries to the level of iron brotherhood, exemplary all-round strategic cooperation and all-weather partnership. The development of bilateral relations has moved to a new stage,” Xie Xiaoyong stressed.

In his words, interaction between research institutions and enterprises of the two countries in innovations is constantly strengthening. “The countries are constantly expanding fields of cooperation, improving mechanisms and enriching methods of scientific and technical interaction. Good results have been achieved. A number of high-tech enterprises and research institutions have become residents of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. The role of the park as a research platform is becoming increasingly important,” the ambassador said.

According to him, the Chinese government will pay special attention to expanding cooperation in science and technology and integration into the global innovation network. “Science and technology are the main productive force, while talent is the main resource. Young scientists have creative minds and are able to grasp the cutting-edge trends in science and technology; they are the future. We have reason to expect that the youth of the two countries will make a great contribution to Chinese-Belarusian cooperation in science, technology and innovation,” said Xie Xiaoyong.

“The Youth Innovation Forum New Horizons attracts more and more Chinese and Belarusian students and young scientists. It plays an important role in developing bilateral cooperation, strengthening mutual understanding, and exchanging experience in scientific research. We are ready to launch even more platforms for interaction between young scientists, to promote cooperation to a new level, so that achievements in innovation served our countries and peoples,” the ambassador said.

Among the organizers of the forum are the State Committee on Science and Technology, the Chinese embassy in Belarus, the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU), the BNTU Confucius Institute of Science and Technology, NTLab Group and the BNTU Science and Technology Park Polytechnic.
