Alla Bodak sworn in as judge of Belarus’ Constitutional Court

Alla Bodak sworn in as judge of Belarus’ Constitutional Court

MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) - Alla Bodak was sworn in as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Belarus on 14 May, BelTA has learned.

In a ceremonial setting Alla Bodak took an oath and swore to honestly and fairly protect the constitutional order and the supremacy of the Constitutional of the Republic of Belarus. After the swearing-in ceremony, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko presented Alla Bodak with an identity document of the judge of the Constitutional Court as well as a gift-wrapped copy of the Constitution of Belarus. The ceremony was attended by the chairmen of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Alla Bodak every success at work. He remarked that the today’s ceremony is a crucial event in her life. Not every person gets this right and this opportunity to be a judge of the Constitutional Court, the president emphasized. He hailed the professional experience of Alla Bodak, including in the status of a deputy justice minister, and her activities as the head of the parliamentary commission.

The head of state described the Constitutional Court as “a creative lab of the best lawyers” and remarked that he wants proposals regarding the improvement of the Constitution from these highly-qualified lawyers. “I want you to be creative. You should not only make conclusions, conduct arguments and dialogues, do not debate who is more important, just like lawyers have been doing recently (although such debates are also useful, discussions are a good thing). Please remember that you are creative people, that the country awaits good proposals regarding the improvement of our Constitution and the entire legal framework from you,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
