All witnesses interviewed in Bryansk Oblast drone strike investigation, Volfovich confirms

MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – All witnesses have been interviewed in the investigation into a drone attack on a bus carrying Belarusian children in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told journalists, following a wreath-laying ceremony at Victory Square in Minsk by the leadership of the security agencies. The ceremony marked the Day of National Remembrance of Victims of Great Patriotic War and Genocide of Belarusian People, BelTA reports.

Aleksandr Volfovich recalled that last week a drone strike hit a bus carrying children from Belarus in Bryansk Oblast. “It does not matter whose bus it was, whether Belarusian, Russian, or from any other country. It was a vehicle carrying civilians. However, those who carried out this attack sought to manufacture a pretext for pitting Belarus against Ukraine and provoking a deeply undesirable situation,” the state secretary remarked.

He noted that the president is closely monitoring the situation. “He has issued the appropriate directives. Our special services and the Investigative Committee are conducting a painstaking investigation. Every piece of evidence will be scrutinized. All witnesses and passengers who were on board the bus have already been interviewed. There are already certain preliminary findings that will be submitted to the head of state. A decision will then be made. But attempts to drag Belarus into the conflict will not succeed. We stand for peace, for reason, and for resolving all matters through diplomacy,” Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized.
