MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – A parliamentary delegation from the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, led by Speaker of the National People’s Assembly of the Algerian parliament Ibrahim Boughali, has arrived in Belarus, BelTA reports.
The delegation was greeted at Minsk National Airport by Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko.
The official visit of the Algerian parliamentary delegation upon the invitation of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, will take place from 23 to 26 May. This marks the first such visit in the history of Belarusian-Algerian relations.
During the visit, meetings with the leadership of the House of Representatives are planned, along with visits to industrial and agricultural enterprises, as well as to cultural and historical sites across the country.
Discussions are expected to cover a wide range of issues related to interparliamentary cooperation, as well as collaboration in the political, trade, economic, and humanitarian spheres.
The visit will culminate in the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the National People’s Assembly of the Algerian parliament.
Belarusian-Algerian interparliamentary contacts are maintained both on a bilateral basis and through engagement within international parliamentary organizations. Both parliaments have friendship groups that exchange visits and hold video conference meetings to discuss trade and economic cooperation, as well as the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level. Deputies of the House of Representatives have also joined the work of the Belarusian-Algerian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
