MINSK, 6 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik is on a visit to Azerbaijan on 5-6 July to participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Coordinating Bureau. The meeting has brought together representatives of 138 states and ten international organizations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his speech, Sergei Aleinik stressed Belarus’ commitment to contributing to the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement, its further development for the benefit of the peoples of all member countries.

The minister noted that the sanctions pressure by the West has a negative impact on the sustainable development of the countries of the Non-Aligned Movement. Unilateral coercive measures have a long-term destructive impact on human rights, including the right to development, and are a deliberate political and economic weapon against the countries of the Non-Aligned Movement. "It is already obvious that unilateral coercive measures are aimed at preventing the sustainable development of 'undesirable' states," the minister said.

According to the minister, the restrictions on Belarus have affected exports and production More so, the restrictions on the supply of certain Belarusian goods to the international market have had an impact on the agriculture of the UN countries.

In this context, the head of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need to prevent the negative impact of sanctions on the global food security and return to normal life for the sake of a sustainable future.

"All NAM countries share the same principles: peace, multilateralism, sustainable development. At a time of large geopolitical clashes in the world, a sincere dialogue is the only way out," Sergei Aleinik noted.

A number of bilateral meetings and negotiations are planned on the sidelines of the event.
