MOSCOW, 10 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are working on an agreement to allow Belarusian specialists to participate in creating the infrastructure of the Vostochny Cosmodrome, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko during the online conference held on 10 June to discuss prospects of advancement of Belarus-Russia relations.
The ambassador said: “A draft agreement on the possible participation of Belarusian construction workers in building the infrastructure of the Vostochny Cosmodrome starting 2022 is in the development phase.”
Speaking about Belarus-Russia cooperation in space industry as a whole, the ambassador reminded that there is a Belarusian-Russian group of satellites for the remote sensing of Earth in orbit now. An agreement on developing the group was signed in January 2020.
Vladimir Semashko said: “We’ve agreed and started jointly designing a satellite with brand new performance parameters. I’d say you can count the number of countries capable of doing what scientists, engineers, and workers of Belarus and Russia are doing now on the fingers of one hand.”
