Relict Oak Grove in Osipovichi District
The Zhornovka Relict Oak Grove, one of the most fascinating natural monuments, is located in Osipovichi District, Mogilev Oblast. In the late 19th century, the grove was owned by Prince Nikolai Radziwill, a major timber industrialist of the Northwestern region. Today, this unique natural landmark is managed by the Zhornovskaya Experimental Base of the Institute of Forestry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The grove is home to about 2,000 oak trees, aged 350 to 400 years, most of which are classified as “plus trees”, meaning they possess impeccable genetic qualities. Their acorns are used to cultivate highly productive plantations of this valuable tree species across the entire country.
