MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – The parliamentary hearings “Territorial integrity and people's unity of Belarus. Historical and legal aspects of reunification of Western Belarus into the BSSR” will take place on 29 April. The appropriate resolution was adopted at the meeting of the fifth session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the seventh convocation on 2 April, BelTA has learned.

“The year 2021 was declared the Year of People’s Unity. In view of this, we drew up and approved the plan of activities aimed at consolidating the society and rallying the Belarusian nation on the basis of ideas of the country's sovereignty and independence,” Chairman of the Standing Commission on Education, Culture and Science of the House of Representatives Igor Marzalyuk noted. “The key date of the year will be either 17 September or 14 November – the dates that symbolize the reunification of the Belarusian people and restoration of historical justice. Plans are in place to hold the open parliamentary hearings ‘Territorial integrity and people's unity of Belarus. Historical and legal aspects of reunification of Western Belarus into the BSSR’ on 29 April within the framework of the preparations for those dates,” he added.

In the run-up to and during the parliamentary hearings, MPs will discuss the reunification of the Belarusian nation as well as the history and current state of the Belarusian-Polish relations, Igor Marzalyuk pointed out. They will also consider drawing up legal regulations that will lay the groundwork for efforts to preserve historical heritage and will comprise proposals collected during the hearings.

The Standing Commission on Education, Culture and Science is responsible for the organization of the parliamentary hearings.
